Singer Chris Brown, 21, has completed over 290 hours of hard labor and attended all but one of his mandatory counseling sessions in accordance with his sentence for the domestic abuse of then-girlfriend, Rihanna, 22, in February, 2009.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg said that Brown appears to be making progress and she set a future status hearing for August 26, 2010. Brown was convicted of attacking Rihanna after the couple left a party in the early morning hours of February 8, 2009. Pictures of Rihanna that surfaced after the attack showed her face cut, bruised, and bloody. Brown was sentenced to five years probation, 180 days of community service, and mandatory domestic abuse counseling for the crime.
Brown and Rihanna have since ended their relationship and both have continued with their music careers, though Brown's image has been severely tarnished. After the attack Brown apologized to his fans, calling the incident "unacceptable."
