Principal Embezzled from School
In L.A., the former principal of a charter school in the Los Angeles area has pled guilty to charges of embezzlement. Edward P. Fiszer, once honored as a "champion of children" was accused of embezzling $1.4 million from the school and trading the stolen funds in the stock market.
This week, Fiszer was arraigned on a 31 count indictment with charges that include path by embezzlement of public funds, forgery, theft by a public officer, state tax fraud and money laundering.
Officers say they arrested the 44 year old two weeks ago in New Jersey. He was then returned to Los Angeles and ordered to be held in lieu of $1.4 million bail.
Back in November 2009, the former principal was fired from his job after his white collar crimes were discovered. It is said that he used school funds to purchase dozens of cashier's checks between 2008 and 2009. The money was then used for trading in stocks.
If Fiszer is convicted, he could be sentenced with 44 years jail time.
