Police Looking for Kidnapping Suspect in L.A.
This week, police announced that a predator may be on the loose near Highland Park. Authorities say that the man tried to kidnap a young girl she was walking to school during morning hours. The 12-year-old victim was walking through Highland Park when she was approached by the suspect.
Later, police released a composite sketch in Glassell Park after the victim gave detectives at the LAPD Southeast Division Station a description of the man who tried to kidnap her.
Officers say that the attempted kidnapping took place in an alley next to the Metro Gold Line, located between Avenue 60 and Avenue 61. Investigators report the suspect is an African-American man, about 20 to 30 years old. He is believed to weigh about 185 pounds, with stud earrings in both ears.
The suspect exited a dark blue van with tinted windows and acted as if he was working on it as the victim passed him. He tried to snatch the girl and pulled her inside his van, but the girl screamed and managed to get away. Detectives say that the girl struggled with the suspect for a good 30 seconds and report that if other victims are in a similar situation, they should scream and struggle, too.
