Mayor Caught Embezzling
A community was shocked to learn that the mayor was embezzling funds from the very same local fire department that he had tried to save from financial ruin.
The mayor, a 46-year-old male, was taken into custody last week by police in West Virginia. He was charged with four counts of uttering, four counts of forgery and four counts of embezzlement. The mayor came under suspicion when four checks made out to the local fire department were cashed by him instead.
When the prosecutor's office learned about this action, they opened up an inquiry into the mayor's actions. Based on an investigation conducted by the police, he was found to be conducted several white collar crimes. In total, he stole $9,000.
He was released shortly after his arrest on $6,000 bail.
