Priest Arrested for Serious Sex Crimes

With so many charges being filed against clergy these days, the recent arrest of another priest did not come with much fanfare.

The man in question was arrested by a police department for sex crimes involving a child. According to the police report, the 67-year-old was charged with one count of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, as well as one count of attempted sexual assault on a child. Police started investigating the suspect back in June when the church notified officers about the abuse that took place during 2001.

At that time, the former priest was working as a chemistry teacher at a Detroit area high school. The victim was a male under the age of 18 when he engaged in a sexual relationship with the priest.

Officers detained the priest in Chicago where he is currently being held on $100,000 bond.
