FBI Arrests 22 Gang Members in Oxnard
FBI officers and police in Ventura County worked together to bring in 22 members of a famed Oxnard street gang last Wednesday.
The 22 men were arrested on drug trafficking charges as part of their participation in the Colonia Chiques, the largest street gang in Ventura County. This comes as a result of the 8-month investigation into the gang's known activities.
Nine indictments have been returned by a federal grand jury in Los Angeles while 12 defendants have been charged with distributing methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and heroin. Of these 12 defendants eight were named in federal indictments and taken into custody last week. Two of the accused are already fugitives while another two have been arrested before.
In addition to the men given federal charges there were 14 more that received state charges that will be prosecuted by the Ventura County district attorney's office. This particular gang has been active since 1970 and has over 1,000 documented members, many of whom have taken an active part in drug crimes.
