Nicaraguan Official Caught after Evading Police
After evading arrest for 14 years, a Nicaraguan official now finds himself behind bars.
According to court and FBI documents, 53-year-old Alejandro Solorzano was en route to Taiwan when he was apprehended by the authorities in Los Angeles. Law enforcement officials at the Los Angeles International Airport were able to quickly determine that Solorzano was the same man who had been issued an arrest warrant 14 years ago. Back then, he was accused of money laundering and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
In February 1997 Solorzano, along with five others, including his brother, were named as suspects in the FBI investigation. Their main target, an Egyptian businessman, was shorted millions of dollars by the group as a whole.
