Marijuana Clinics Raided in West Hollywood

For the first time in four years federal drug enforcement agents raided medical marijuana clinics in West Hollywood.

Two clinics were raided by the LAPD, DEA and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department on the 7800 and 8400 blocks of Santa Monica Boulevard. One person was taken into custody as a result of these raids.

The last time such raids were conducted was back in January 2007 when the DEA conducted raids on 11 Los Angeles area dispensaries. Five of these dispensaries were in West Hollywood. This hands-off approach was implemented by the Obama administration two years ago when it advised law enforcement officials to stay away from dispensaries operating legally. However possession of marijuana is still considered a felony under federal law, even in California.
