Officer Charged with Domestic Violence
A local police narcotics officer has been arrested on charges of domestic violence. He is accused of beating and threatening his live-in girlfriend on two separate occasions over the last year. The 49-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with multiple felony counts of domestic violence, criminal threats, and false imprisonment by violence. If convicted of all counts, the police detective could face up to 19 years in a federal prison for his crimes.
The man has been accused of striking his live-in girlfriend with a knife and threatening her with a gun on one occasion, and more recently fighting with her in front of the woman's friends. On the latter occasion, just a month ago, the man allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a piece of wood in front of multiple witnesses. The police detective is currently being held on $450,000 bail pending his arraignment.
