More Holiday DUI Arrests Reported in 2011

Officers in Los Angeles County worked overtime during the holidays to protect the city's roadways. News sources say that their efforts were successful as more people were arrested for driving under the influence during the holiday period in 2011 compared to 2010. In total, 710 people were arrested in California during the holidays. 138 of those were in Los Angeles County. That is 55 more people than in 20120.

While there were no deaths in Los Angeles County, five people did lose their lives over the holidays due to drunk driving in the state of California. It should be noted that these figures are just for those roadways that are under the jurisdiction of the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Local figures have not been added to the totals yet.
