Plastic grinding can prove a lucrative business, or crime. Plastic sold to recycling companies to be ground into small pieces was worth breaking the law in a South Los Angeles case. Police arrested four people for possessing a quarter of a million dollars' worth of stolen plastic items. Bread baskets, pallets, crates, and other trademarked items were stolen from stores like Ralphs and Wal-Mart. On the property which housed these stolen items was a large plastic-grinding machine as well as 120,000 pounds of ground plastic. The owner and three of his employees are now in custody.
