Harvey Weinstein’s Sex Crime Trial in Los Angeles: Recent News

As Los Angeles sex crime attorneys we are always keeping tabs on current events related to our practice, and recently saw news that Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault and rape case, which is being heard in Los Angeles County Superior Court, will allow 5 women to testify but not Daryl Hannah or Rose McGowan. 

A recent Fox News article covering the trial highlighted: “Under California law, prosecutors can introduce evidence of prior sexual assaults against a defendant accused of sex crimes only if the allegations are criminal in nature.” However, the judge ruled that any alleged misconduct that occured prior to 2000 is too remote and therefore not admissible.

He’s due back in court on June 10, 2022 when the judge will set the trial date, and we’re interested in seeing how things play out.
